Investors upset Apple never released game system, television set, and clock radio

A recently filed class action lawsuit alleges investors were ripped off when Apple never released products the company never said it would.

Specifically named in the suit are “a 32-bit video game console which would include two joypads and a really cool version of Dark Castle,” a “television set (like the ones Sony makes),” and “a clock radio which would include a Wild Eep alarm sound.”

“Investors make decisions on what stocks to buy based not only on what products are currently available, but on products that they believe the company will release in the future,” said Joe Sosumi of Sosumi Brothers Law, the firm heading up the class action suit.

Sosumi says Apple missed an opportunity in the video game console market when 32-bit gaming systems were first becoming popular and the Sony Playstation had not yet been released.

“Millions of dollars were invested into Apple, hoping the company would join the video game revolution,” said Sosumi. “But they missed the boat. Now I deserve to get paid.”

What about the television set? Sosumi says Apple CEO Steve Jobs often talked about his love for Sony and that these comments misled investors into thinking Apple was going to release other electronic products, such as a television set, just like Sony does.

And finally, the alarm clock.

“People need to wake up in the morning,” Sosumi said. “Who doesn’t have an alarm clock? I have one. Do you?” (the author of this article acknowledges the fact that he does indeed have an alarm clock) “Apple should have made an alarm clock. But they didn’t, so the investors never got a piece of the profit that would have existed if Apple ever made alarm clocks in the first place.” (?)

This lawsuit could open the door for many other copycat lawsuits. Right now, lawyers are busy thinking up other products that Apple never created, but should have.
